    WHAT IS CONNECTHOME AKRON?

Every American—regardless of their zip code—should have access to broadband. ConnectHome is a national public-private collaboration developed to narrow the digital divide for individuals and families with school-age children who live in HUD-assisted housing. This exciting initiative is designed to bring affordable broadband access, electronic devices, technical training and other digital literacy programs to all Americans.

A White House initiative aggressively driven by HUD, Akron is one of just 55 ConnectHome communities selected for program launching, with the initial focus on Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) residents.

    WHY DO WE NEED IT?

For public housing and low-income residents, ConnectHome Akron is a critical bridge to gaining the digital access and skills increasingly needed to break the cycle of poverty and to create a future of financial independence.

Through the collaboration of several Core Partners and dedicated community organizations, ConnectHome Akron creates the opportunity for thousands of Summit County's low-income families to successfully cross the digital divide.
